Our Grade II listed building dates from the early 1800's and is located in Cinque Port Street, which was formerly the old Rope Walk. This stretch of road, running alongside the partly existing town wall, was once used to twist and make the ropes for fishing and agricultural purposes.

The Runcible Spoon was invented by Edward Lear, which is in his poem 'The Owl and the Pussycat'. Our restaurant décor reflects features from the Poem.

Most of our food is homemade and freshly prepared. Please allow yourself and us time for this. Thank you very much for your custom.
